2019 Elections
South Norfolk Council have set up the webpages for the May 2019 Elections at https://www.south-norfolk.gov.uk/residents/elections-and-registration/current-elections.
The website will be updated as we progress towards the May Elections. Please note the nomination packs will be changing prior to the May elections, and this will be confirmed on the webpage when they have been updated.
A candidate briefing will be provided on the 11 February 2019 at 6.30pm in the Council Chamber at South Norfolk Council Offices, Cygnet Court, Long Stratton, to book a space please email the [email protected] by 30 January 2019, confirming what capacity you will be standing either as a District and/or Parish candidate at the Elections in May 2019.

Norwich Western Link Options Consultation reminder
For us, 2019 has continued where 2018 left off with our public consultation on our Norwich Western Link shortlisted options remaining open. However, the consultation will close at midnight on Friday 18 January so I wanted to remind you that you only have two weeks left in which to give us your views.Norfolk County Council wants to create a Norwich Western Link to improve travel between the A47 and the western end of Broadland Northway (formerly the Northern Distributor Road) and to tackle transport problems in the area. We launched our consultation on Monday 26 November 2018 and have had a good level of response so far, but we hope to get many more responses through as the closing date approaches.
If you haven’t already done so, I would like to encourage you to respond to the consultation. It’s very important to us that we understand any preferences, concerns or priorities you want us to take into account when we are identifying a preferred route for the Norwich Western Link in spring 2019. This is also an opportunity to tell us about any relevant information that you think we should consider before we carry out more detailed work on the preferred route alignment.
You can find out more about the options online via www.norfolk.gov.uk/nwl. Once you have looked through this information, there are a number of ways you can respond to the consultation. If you are responding on behalf of an organisation or in an official capacity, we would encourage you to send your response in writing, as follows:

Love Food Hate Waste
Whether you are passionate about food or simply
want to make the most of the food that you have bought, you might be interested in getting involved in Norfolk County Council’s Love Food Hate Waste project.They are looking for people who would like to become Love Food Hate Waste volunteers who are willing to share their knowledge with others to help to reduce the amount of food we waste.
In the UK each year households throw away seven million tonnes of food and drink. This costs the average family with children about £810 a year or the equivalent of £70 per month. Waste that is not recycled or composted is currently taken to energy from waste plants.
As a Love Food Hate Waste volunteer you will be trained in issues regarding food waste and equipped with tools and ongoing support to help others in your local community to make the most of their food, reduce food waste and save money.
Anyone over the age 18 can join the scheme; you will receive free training and resource pack and ongoing support from your programme coordinator and waste reduction officers.
The next training course will be held on Saturday 26 January 2019 at County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich NR1 2SG.
