• The Highway Code – 8 changes you need to know from today (29 January 2022)

    In the most wide-ranging changes to the Highway Code in a generation, new rules come into effect from Saturday 29 January.  Full details can be read by clicking here.  Some of the most important ones involve a new hierarchy of road users, giving more priority and protection to pedestrians and cyclists.

  • Bin Collections in Claxton over Christmas and the New Year

    There will be no brown bin collections over the 2-week period from 27 December 2021 to 7 January 2022.  Normal schedules will recommence on 10 January.

    Green and Black bin collections in Claxton over the holidays will be as follows:

    Normal Collection Day Temporary Collection Day
    Thursday 30 December (Black) Friday 31 December (1 day later)
    Thursday 6 January (Green) Friday 7 January (1 day later)

     

  • Developing Skills In Health and Social Care

    Attention is drawn to Norfolk and Suffolk Adult Social Care’s project providing fully funded training courses to those staff working within the adult health and social care sector across Norfolk and Suffolk.  Details are on the poster which by read by clicking here.

  • Claxton Marshes Recovery Works – Autumn 2021

    The Environment Agency have notified us of works due to start later in October on Hellington Beck at Claxton corner.  Details are in the attached sheet – Claxton Fact Sheet Sept 2021.

  • Home Composter leaflet

    The leaflet below has been produced in conjunction with Norfolk County Council and promotes the use of home composters and Bokashi bins to manage garden and food waste at home.  The prices for each bin have been subsidised, the details of which are on the leaflet.

  • Village Litter Pick, Tuesday 14 September

    Many thanks to the 6 volunteers who turned out this morning to clear any litter from verges and hedgerows in the village.  We managed to finish in around an hour, dodging the expected rain into the bargain.

  • Symptom-free Coronavirus testing

    Norfolk County Council have announced that symptom-free Coronavirus testing (also known as rapid or community testing) is now available through their website at various locations around Norwich.

  • Emergency road closure in Claxton – repair to ditch collapse

    Owing to works to repair a ditch collapse next to the road edge due to water scour, the use by vehicles of the C202 The Street from its junction with U76328 Folly Lane north westwards for a distance of 528m in the PARISH OF CLAXTON will be temporarily prohibited from 24th February 2021 to 1st March 2021 for the duration of the works, expected to be about 6 days within the period.
