Hands-On Volunteer Day at Ducan’s Marsh, Claxton on Sunday 13 March

Ducan’s Marsh is a SSSI site in Claxton, owned by the Claxton Parish Pits Trust.

It is primarily valuable for its rare flora, having escaped re-seeding, fertilising or spraying with pesticides.

Come and get mucky!  No prior experience required.  We intend to cut and burn encroaching Willow scrub.

We have some tools, but if you have loppers or pruning saws, they might come in handy along with a robust pair of gloves.

The site is quite wet, so wellies are generally the order of the day.

In addition, if anyone has a powerful brush cutter/clearing saw that they are prepared to use, please contact me.

Refreshments will be available, but please bring your own mug.

Because of very limited parking at Ducan’s, please park at Claxton Village Hall.

We will aim to kick off at 10.30, but turn up when you can.

IF the weather looks atrocious we will try update via email, or contact me.

Many thanks,

Kevin Parker – on behalf of SYWG & The Claxton Parish Pits Trust.
