Traffic in the village – June 2023 update

The shared SAM2 speed monitor has just completed another month when it should have been in Langley with Hardley, but they have still not been able to identify a volunteer to manage the device there.  Until they do, the monitor will remain in Claxton, and of course it will be deployed here from July to September as part of its routine schedule.  It is quite possible we will have it for the whole of 2023.  Any news on this issue will appear on these pages.

The table below covers the period from 1-30 June, when the device was at the Village Hall facing towards Rockland St Mary and Norwich.

What does it show?  The picture is slightly better than April, with almost 4 out of every 5 vehicles coming through the village from the north driving through within the 30MPH speed limit, and >96% in or just over that limit.

We have looked closely at the data to see if there is a pattern, but as in previous months can’t find one.  The days/times of the worst 7 offenders (all coming through at between 46 and 50MPH) were as follows:

Thursday 1 June at 0635, Friday 2 June at 0745, Saturday 3 June at 1055, Sunday 18 June at 1415, Saturday 24 June at 2345, Wednesday 28 June at 1201 and Thursday 29 June at 1440.
