    Dear All,

    I hope your Holy Week has begun well. Details of services this week and April’s Sunday services can be found on the attached posters – Holy-Week-Easter-Services and Rockland-Benefice-Sunday-Services__-in-April-23. Please note that Monday (3rd) 12 Noon is the booking deadline for the Maundy Thursday Paschal Meal (Lamb or vegetarian tagine £8 adults, £2.50 children).

  • Services and events this week (Mar 12th-19th)

    Dear All,

    I hope you’re keeping well and warm!
    This Sunday (Mar 12th) our services are Communion at Surlingham, 9.30am and at Carleton St. Peter at 11am.  At 4pm Still at the Barn is gathering for a Lent reflection ‘Still in the Wilderness’.  Please see the attached flyer for more information – still wilderness.
    Warm Welcome at the Barn is open again on Monday (13th) from 11am to 4pm, for refreshments, lunches, cakes and good company.  Any donations will go to the Diocesan Lent Appeal for the Priscilla Bacon Hospice.
    Celtic Prayer meets in Surlingham Church porch at 10am on Tuesday (14th).
    On Wednesday (15th) Art Cafe in the Barn opens its doors between 10.30am-12 Noon, for fresh coffee, cakes and some art!  All welcome.
    The Group Lent Course (16th) on ‘How to eat bread’ meets in the Barn and online at 7.30pm.  If you’d like to meet up for the simple meal beforehand, this begins at 7pm.
    Looking ahead to Mothering Sunday (Mar 19th) we give thanks at our Mothering Sunday services at Bramerton (9.30am), Rockland St. Mary (11am) and Surlingham (11am).  11am Mattins at Kirby Bedon continues to follow the Lent theme in hymns and readings.

  • Earthquake Appeal, Services and events this week (Feb 12th-19th)

    Dear All,
    I hope you’re keeping well.
    I’m aware that many are feeling great concern for the people of Turkey and Syria following their devastating earthquakes.  I am collecting for the Christian Aid Turkish earthquake Appeal and will be glad to receive donations at Church on Sunday, at the Barn on Monday and the Rectory at other times.     This Sunday (Feb 12th) we’re celebrating the wonder of creation at our Communion services at Bramerton (9.30am) and Rockland St. Mary (11am).
    Warm Welcome at the Barn is offering its much-enjoyed open refreshments, lunches, cakes and companionship on Monday (13th) from 11am to 4pm.

    On Wednesday (15th) the online Art Cafe is taking a look at the Madonna of the Cotton Fields and other paintings of Laura Knight.  Please let me know if you’d like a Zoom invitation.

    Looking ahead to the following Sunday (Feb 19th) our services are Morning Worship in Claxton at 9.30am and Communion at Kirby Bedon at 11am.  Cafe Church is meeting in Rockland Parish Room from 10.30am-12 Noon.

  • Eleven Says, Services and Events this week (Jan 25th-Feb 5th)

    Dear All,

    I hope you’re keeping well.

    Eleven Says has been published and we’re gathering at 9am Saturday morning in Bergh Apton Village Hall to collate and distribute copies. All helping hands welcome!

    This Sunday (Jan 29th), we join with our Thurton benefice friends for a 10am Candlemas Communion at Rockland St. Mary, followed by tea and coffee in the Barn.  At 4pm, Helen will lead Still with Snowdrops at the Barn. Snowdrops are sometimes known as Candlemas Bells. They provide our theme for stillness, contemplation, words and music.

    Warm Welcome at the Barn is open on Monday (30th) from 11am to 4pm, for refreshments, lunches, cakes and good company.

    On Wednesday (Feb 1st) Claxton Community Cafe meets in the Village Hall from 10am-12 Noon. All welcome.

    Looking ahead to the following Sunday (Feb 5th) our services are Communion at Claxton, 9.30am and Morning Worship at Carleton St. Peter at 11am.

    I hope you’re keeping well.

    This Sunday’s morning services (Jan 22nd) are Communion at Surlingham, 9.30am and Morning Worship at Carleton St. Peter at 11am.

    Warm Welcome at the Barn is open on Monday (23rd) from 11am to 4pm, for refreshments, lunches and good company. 

    On Tuesday (24th) Celtic Prayer starts at 10am in Surlingham church porch. 

    On Wednesday (25th) Art Cafe online is looking at rediscovered carvings from Norwich Cathedral’s vanished Norman cloister, plus some other examples from across Europe.  The Zoom meeting begins at 10.30am. Please contact me if you’d like a link.

    I hope you’re keeping well.

    This Sunday’s morning services (Jan 15th) are 9.30am Morning Worship at Claxton and 11am Communion at Kirby Bedon.  At 4pm, Helen is leading Still at the Barn, an hour of stillness, contemplation, words and music, experiencing darkness and welcoming the light.  There will be opportunities to make a creative response if you wish to.

    Warm Welcome at the Barn opens its doors on Monday (16th) from 11am to 4pm, for freshly made soup, cakes, and good company.  All welcome!

    On Wednesday (18th) at 7.30pm, I’m giving an online talk in aid of Hospice Ethiopia UK on Artists, Sitters and Settings.  Looking at some well-known and less familiar portraits, we will explore how backgrounds and surroundings convey meaning to their audience.  Please contact me if you’d like a Zoom link. Donations to Hospice Ethiopia UK welcome.

    Art Cafe visits The Singh Twins’ exhibition at Norwich Castle on Thursday (19th).  Please contact me for more information.
