My wife, Lesley and I have lived in Claxton for 38 years and have brought up our two sons at Chapel Cottage.  I am retired from a career as a community pharmacist working in Norwich and previously in Loddon.  We both enjoy living in this beautiful area with our cottage looking over the Yare Valley and observing how nature changes with the seasons.
I have a broad range of interests including current affairs, sport, social history, music and the arts.  I am particularly keen on travel and wildlife photography.  I also enjoy cycling and walking round the lanes of Norfolk and Suffolk.
I was co-opted onto the Parish Council in May 2012, became Vice-Chairman in 2016 and have been Chairman since 2021.  I was most recently re-elected in May 2023.

I have been a Claxton resident since 1996, living at The Folly, The Street with my husband Rob and we have two grown up daughters.  I have been a GP for over 30 years and work part time at a Practice on the outskirts of Norwich.
In my spare time I enjoy walking, cycling, art and vegetable growing.
I was co-opted onto the Parish Council in November 2020 and re-elected in 2023.

I live in the centre of Claxton on The Street with my wife Rosie.  We have been here since I semi-retired about 7 years ago.  From time to time I work in Derbyshire which takes me out of the village now and again.
During my career I have worked in a variety of industries including fabric dyeing and finishing, making chocolates, logistics executive then running my own company as a specialist drainage contractor.  I also used to run a smallholding with sheep and cattle.
I am an active person often out walking our dog or doing DIY. inside and out, but I can’t claim to be a keen gardener.  We have a caravan and like to get away now and again mainly to visit family – we have 11 grandchildren between us.
My hobbies are scuba diving, messing about in boats and classic cars.
I was elected onto the Parish Council in 2023.

We are so delighted to have found Claxton! John and I moved here to Salix, The Street, in May 2018 after many years living on the south coast.  A boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads had changed our lives – we loved the area so rented out our house, bought a boat and lived on this for a few years while looking for a property.
I can trace my maternal ancestors to this area of Norfolk as far back as the 1700s
– my grandparents lived in what is now the gift shop at the top of Elm Hill, until they moved to London before the First World War.
I have two sons and a daughter who live in Oxfordshire, Kent and York with their families – five grandchildren so far.
Now retired from careers in teaching and publishing I’m enjoying all that this wonderful area, and Norfolk in general, has to offer. Gardening for wildlife has become a bit of a passion, and other interests include natural history, the environment and current affairs. I enjoy walking/hiking, reading, yoga at the village hall, and also golf, kayaking and cycling when I have the energy.
I was elected to the Parish Council in 2023.  I’m also a Trustee of the Village Hall, and one of the small team that runs the monthly Community Café.

Having grown up in west Norfolk I moved to Claxton around 9 years ago. Since then I have thrown myself into being part of the community in which to raise my young children.

Elected on 4 May 2023.

Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

I moved up to Norfolk 9 years ago from the Southeast. I worked in the Gas and Oil industry until 2019 when I left to look after my two children and have been working in my local convenience store since then. Ready for a new challenge I was appointed Parish Clerk in June 2022, which I am very much enjoying, and no two weeks are the same.

I live in Poringland with my husband and two young children and enjoy reading, cross-stitch and yoga with any free time I can get.
